Pontcanna, Cardiff has almost surprisingly excellent links into Cardiff City Centre and also out towards the M4 for Newport and Swansea. Whilst Pontcanna manages to support the close knit community feel with an excellent array of cafes the traffic infrastructure makes it easy to travel around.
Walking around Pontcanna
Much of Pontcanna is a short, and nice walk into Cardiff City Centre, with bars to stop on the way if you are in need of a little liquid refreshment
Driving around Pontcanna
Cathedral Road, Pontcanna gives you a quick route in and out of the Eastern side of Cardiff City Centre, coming out within view of the Millennium Stadium. Do be warned though, the police do have a habit of shutting Castle Street on match days!
If Cathedral Road is a little busy, which it can be in rush hour traffic, then a quick cut through down Llandaff Road onto Atlas Road and back into the City Centre may save you a bit of time.
If you want access to the M4 or the A48M, just pop down Cardiff Road (at the end of Cathedral Road and Penhill Road) and onto the A48M. If your bank manager can't handle anymore of the delhi and cafe shopping then you will also find a massive Tesco's on this route or you can walk through Llandaff Playing fields.
Rail Travel around Pontcanna
There are two railway stations that service Pontcanna, namely Waun-gron Park Rail and Ninian Park Rail - good for local travel but for inter-city travel you are best arriving at Cardiff Central Railway station, which is a short distance from the edge of Pontcanna.
Bus Travel around Pontcanna
A short hop from anywhere in Pontcanna, Llandaff or Canton will get you into Cardiff City Centre. Ring Traveline Wales directly on 01766 543 100 and they will tell you what number bus to take and how long you will be waiting!
